Measuring instruments in Belarus show traces of radiation originating from Japan, but the danger to people in the country do not have, said Tuesday at a press conference, Director of the Department of Hydrometeorology of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Maria Germenchuk.

Earlier the head of Hydromet Alexander Frolov said that in the coming weeks, the particles of radioactive substances in trace amounts because of the accident at the nuclear power plant "Fukushima-1" can be spread around the world, but there was no risk to human health, they do not represent. He stressed that this number is in the hundreds of thousands of times smaller than the background levels.

"In Belarus, as well as in Russia and the EU, had traces of radioactive particles, but their level in Belarus has been extremely low," — she said.

"The level of radionuclides in the millions of times less than the limit of the critical load," — said meteorologist.

According Germenchuk, since the radiation release at a nuclear power plant "Fukushima-1", Belarus together with Russian colleagues is monitoring the radiation situation, the tracking information on dose rates and anticipating possible developments.

Director of the Department noted that the monitoring of the radiation situation continues, including in conjunction with the Russian side.

After what happened on March 11 in the north-east Japan earthquake, magnitude 9.0 on the nuclear power plant "Fukushima-1", a series of accidents caused by the failure of the cooling system.
